Social Rides

What are bikes for, if not to ride?

The BikeMan employees and owners are enthusiasts. Getting out on a bike and riding it is our idea of fun - and when you live in tropical North Queensland, there is lots of fun to be had!

Cairns is a mecca for mountain bikers, with so many well-known downhill trails, XC tracks and just plain fun places to go ride. And for the road rider, the run up to Copperlode or the wide open spaces of the Atherton Tablelands is like a magnet. All you have to do is ride!

It's now normal for there to be a social XC ride on a Sunday afternoon. Generally people meet at the store at around 2.00pm, and head off by car to the top of the Kuranda Range. Other groups tack on the caravan at Smithfield around 2.30pm, and everyone ends up somewhere in the Clohesy River / Davies Creek area for a few kilometres of trail riding. Generally, return to the BikeMan no later than 6.30pm. These rides are strictly social, and are fun for everyone.

The Downhillers need to ring the store and find out what's going on, who's going where and when they are going there. There's almost always someone who knows someone who is going riding, especially if it's a weekend. After all, that's why we sell so many downhill bikes...

Regardless of which ride you would like to do, it is imperative that you contact us beforehand to ensure that the ride is on - also if you are visiting Cairns from other parts of the planet, conditions here can be a bit overwhelming. It's definitely tropical here!
